Jesus Christ speaks of preparing to be generous:

Blessings Keep Flowing

A long winter’s night will bring a great fright
to the lonely, cold and new.
I have spoken to my warriors to get ready for the storms
and those who prepared are still few.

So in they will roll with a fury not a stroll,
and most will be desperate and shocked.
For the sky will be falling
and in terror they’ll be calling,
out for help from those who are stocked.

And you who are righteous will lend and give freely
to the meek and humble in need.
As my blessings keep flowing
your accounts will keep growing,
and wealth will come quickly indeed!

Today’s Written Word

Genesis 41:48, 49 NIV Joseph collected all the food produced in those seven years of abundance in Egypt and stored it in the cities. In each city he put the food grown in the fields surrounding it.

Joseph stored up huge quantities of grain, like the sand of the sea; it was so much that he stopped keeping records because it was beyond measure.

Psalm 112:5 NIV Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with justice.

Dueteronomy 15:8 NIV Rather, be openhanded and freely lend them whatever they need.

Isaiah 44:3 For I will pour water on the parched ground and cause streams to flow on the dry land. I will pour my spirit on your offspring and my blessing on your children.

Proverbs 28:8-10 ESV Whoever multiplies his wealth by interest and profit gathers it for him who is generous to the poor.

If one turns away his ear from hearing the law,even his prayer is an abomination.

Whoever misleads the upright into an evil way will fall into his own pit,
but the blameless will have a goodly inheritance.

A Word of Encouragement

The Lord is reminding us to be prepared for a the great shaking and a long winters night that will bring fear and trembling to those unaware and unprepared. We have been warned to gather supplies, food and water to sustain our families and those who may need our help when the storms roll in. There are many kinds of storms, physical snow or wind storms, illness that storms the country, financial storms, and even political or governmental storms that can errupt in physical conflict. Whatever comes, we can be prepared to stand firm in peace and the protection of God and be led by our Christ. We are to be obedient in faith, not fear. Let’s pray and listen to what Jesus Christ is leading each of us to do for our families and friends, and be well prepared to be generous when others are in need. Our prayers are powerful!
