Today’s Living Word: Tuesday – Talk to Me and Listen

3–5 minutes

God asks us to listen, hear, and obey His voice:

Talk to Me and Listen

Come sit and talk to me, like a Father with a child upon his knee.
Be close and dear and quick to hear, all I whisper in your ear.
Know who I am and who you are in me,
Father and child and one we will be.

Like the wind passes over, I will lend you my shoulder
to lean on in times of confusion.
For great fear will arise and many will surmise
all is lost and will fall for their delusion.

Not so! I will shout and my light will break out
from the darkness with joy and refreshing.
For the winnowing fork is tossing, all the tares I am removing,
the good from the evil I’m threshing.

Stand firm in my voice, only hear and rejoice,
as you listen, I’ll reveal all my secrets,
And new all will be in the land and the sea,
freedom will ring out without any regrets!

Today’s Written Word

Deuteronomy 5:27 Go thou near, and hear all that the LORD our God shall say: and speak thou unto us all that the LORD our God shall speak unto thee; and we will hear it, and do it.

I John 2:14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.

I John 1:3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty, The everlasting, The Prince of Peace.

Luke 3:17 NKJV “His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather the wheat into His barn; but the chaff He will burn with unquenchable fire.”

Luke 15:10 AMP “In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents [that is, changes his inner self—his old way of thinking, regrets past sins, lives his life in a way that proves repentance; and seeks God’s purpose for his life].”

Psalm 34:2 My soul makes its boast in the LORD; The humble and downtrodden will hear it and rejoice.

A Word of Encouragement

When we pray to God we are just talking to Him. He longs to hear about our cares and concerns like any Father would. This message is a request to come to God like a child does to sit with Him and talk and listen. God is so very loving and tender to us. He wants to be our shoulder to cry on, lean on and depend on when life gets scary and difficult. He is reassuring us that as we walk and talk with Him, look to Him and His light (Jesus Christ, the written and spoken word. . . ) He will reveal His secrets to us. Then we will be able to stand firm and have joy and rejoicing in freedom and without any regrets. Praise God for He is SO VERY GOOD!

An Action For Today

Let’s all follow God’s direction to come and sit and listen to Him today. We can ask Him to tell us a secret or to teach us something we have wanted to know. God is filled with wisdom and understanding. Our time spent with Him is without regrets.
