Christ speaks prophecy of living and giving love:
Who will choose me, and who will choose righteousness over selfish pleasure? Will the wealthy grandparents give to the poor and needy and not by lavish gifts for their grandchildren? Or will they come to me in prayer and ask how they may care for those less fortunate? Look around you now, my lovely family, and seek to bless those in need. Who do you know that would benefit from a hot meal or a kind gesture? Do you have extra blankets or space to offer shelter to someone who has no place to lay their head? Will you help those in need when all goes dark? To whom shall I send the lost and lonely, who cry out to me in the night? Where are my well supplied, light filled ambassadors that will go where I send? Is it you? Will you hear and obey?
This is a difficult message to hear, I know. It is painful for me to speak correction to my family whom I love. Why have so many turned to please themselves, and why have they forgotten my call to serve their fellow man? These are the days of plenty and prosperity. You may not see it that way, but in the United States there are layers of excess and riotous living that waste the resources that I have sent to bless my people.
The food you buy is filled with preservatives and yet it is thrown out because you went to a drive-through out of convenience, and the groceries you bought went bad. Many people around the world would gladly spend all they have to enjoy a small portion of the prosperity of most Americans. Your blessings are meant to promote holiness, not greed nor sloth. Step up now, my brethren, and live the new law of love. Love God with your whole heart, soul, mind and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself. You will be joyful in your deed, and you will surely be blessed for all of eternity, for love is the purpose of your life!
Today’s Written Word
Matthew 19:20 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and follow me.
Luke 10:30-37
30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.
33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,
34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.
36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?
37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.
A Word of Encouragement
Our Lord is asking us to step up and help others in need. It is a decision of the heart to take money, food and resources from our own supply and willingly give to another. What he asked was “where are my well supplied ambassadors”. One of the greatest resources we have is the love of God that has been shed abroad in our hearts. Christ said that the purpose of life is to love God and love our fellow man. Let’s ask the Lord where he will send us and then be joyful in showing others love and kindness today!
