God speaks a prophetic poem to turn the hearts of parents and children toward Him:
A Poem of Christmas Lists
The racing is about to begin –
or perhaps you are already running?
It is the dash to the finish line for all good mothers
and some dads who are stunning.
The day of rejoicing and rest that you all look forward to.
No, not Thanksgiving, although that’s a favorite day, it’s true.
But I’m speaking of Christmas Day
with all the sparkle and the shine
and all who have forgotten their identity
and calling to be mine.
This is a season of joy and celebration
and a time for families to gather.
For my heart’s desire for each of you
is peace, not war nor shopping, but I’d rather
see you sit and share some love
instead of gifts and presents,
and count the many blessings
I’ve given from my spiritual abundance.
It is true that your little ones
have been schooled to receive,
and I understand your tender hearts
to want them to believe.
But do not reinforce the lie
that Santa will bring a treasure trove
when all good and perfect gifts
are truly sent from up above.
Begin to redirect your kids
to make a list and come to me in prayer,
Ask them to write it down
and daily give it a stare.
Tell them to choose the biggest gifts,
the ones money cannot buy,
then ask their God to bring them,
not Santa, but El Shaddai.
And you who are doing all the racing and shopping
can make a list of your own,
my blessings now are dropping
and one by one you’ll see them come.
I am sending the answers to your prayers.
Some will be the money and presents from your list,
at which long you have stared.
And some will be free from me, big surprises I am sending.
Ones that will change you from broken and weary,
your minds and bodies I’ll be mending.
Take some time and make your lists.
Do not be distracted nor delay.
For all that I have promised
will soon be coming your way!
Today’s Written Word
Matthew 2:11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him (showed reverence, honored): and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.
Luke 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
Psalm 107:20 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
Ephesians 1:6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
I Peter 1:4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
A Word of Encouragement
What a great encouragement from God to take some time to be together this holiday and share love and joy rather than gifts. We can redirect our focus from shiny new things to the light from above, and train our families to make lists for prayer, rather than things. Sometimes we do need big things, like restoration of relationships, healing in our bodies, and a way forward when all hope is lost. These are exactly the things that our loving heavenly Father wants to provide to us – free! Let’s get busy making those lists and giving our requests to Him. The true provider of all we need and desire. Praise God for He is a good and generous Father!
