God speaks to the survivors whom He WILL supply:
Loss is relative to what you have to begin with. If a small loss occurs for a wealthy person who has many assets and much to manage, it is not a weighty matter. But if a poor person with very few assets loses what they do have, suddenly all seems hopeless. Many of my people have been reduced to riding a very thin line between poverty and sustainability. Now are the days of trials and tribulations, and many will be forced into poverty.
What would you do without a job or a paycheck, or if everything you needed, like food and shelter, suddenly became even more expensive and the opportunities became more limited? You must begin to think through those details, my children, for the days of woe have begun and they are about to roll upon you like a sudden storm. Try to make some sacrifices now in order to set aside some resources for later. Store up your money and food while it is flowing in abundance and set back all you can for a rainy day. For the heavens are rumbling, and I hear the sounds of rain coming.
When harvest time comes, the farmer works diligently to reap all they have sown. He (or She) knows the long, warm and sunny days will soon turn to darkness. Once the grain is gathered into the barns, they can enjoy the quiet of the winter cold and eat the fruits of their summer labors. My people have lost understanding of the rhythms of life. They know not when to plant or reap, and hear not my warnings of what is on their horizon. Be wise and begin to flow in my spirit now. Be gatherers now and not paupers later. This is the season for aggressive gathering and storing. Be frugal and conservative in all you use, spend and allow to be eaten from your cupboards. Train yourselves and your families to walk in kindness and self-sacrifice in order to help one another.
Picture a life of excess turning to one of limitations. There will soon be many catastrophic events that will shut down schools, close businesses and bring your “normal” life to a halt! Store, conserve, plan, reap, withdraw, and withhold from luxury. Do not do that which is extravagant now, but be miserly in times of plenty, and SUPPLIED you will be in the days of famine. HEAR AND OBEY!
Today’s Written Word
I Thessalonians 5:1-10 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
For when they shall say, Peace and safety: then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
For God hath not appointed (laid upon) us to wrath (God’s anger, punishment, judgement), but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that, whether we wake (are spiritually alert, vigilant) or sleep (living not saved, or dead unsaved), we should live together with him.
Jeramiah 6:10 To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.
A Word of Encouragement
God is questioning us about our plan to respond to a hike in prices for basic needs. It is a bit hard to imagine, considering how expensive food and housing has already become, but He is warning us that these are coming realities we can prepare for now. God is so loving to help us prepare for what is on the way. We need to begin to consider sharing our housing, sharing our resources and sharing the love of God in a much bigger way. Could you make room for your family or some friends to move into your home? Could you help bare the burden of lost income from unemployment or limited incomes for a time, to support God’s beloved? How would you handle having everyone in your home all day because the schools and businesses are closed? Let’s get ready!
An Action Item
The record of Joseph and how God set him up as second in command under Pharaoh comes to mind. He had resources, the power to make Godly decisions, and most important – the wisdom and ability to hear from God to prepare for the lean years. Let’s be peaceful and aggressive in hearing God and obeying as he leads. What He asks of you may be very different than His children in a neighboring town or country. Ask of God, listen to His voice, and walk forward in joy and obedience.
