Today’s Living Word – Prayer & Listening

4–7 minutes

God speaks prophecy, calling us to really know Him:

I am speaking, are you listening? Do you come to me in prayer and make your requests? Yes, some do. Do you stay in silence and await my answers? No, most do not. Most of you, throw up a request in your car on the way to work or after a call with bad news. One of those, “please help them Father” prayers for a 30 second sound bite kind of thought. Do you really believe I work that way? If you truly believed my word and you really knew me, you would sit for hours in focused petition for those you love, and you would dedicate your time to hear and to know me. Receive ye now.

Being close to me in an open and intimate relationship is for your benefit. It will help you believe me when you can both speak to me openly and hear my answer clearly. You do not earn my love nor help nor favor by “putting in your time.” NO! But you do need to learn how to communicate in the spirit in order to hear clearly. Start developing your skills now, my beloved, and do not wait until calamity strikes to become mature in walking by my spirit within.

Your big brother Christ is also available to speak to and hear from, but so very few of you know his voice. He is leading a very small and select few into this great reversal of power – the taking back of dominion and rulership in all the earth. This spiritual war is being fought on your behalf by my dedicated and trained army of light, who protect and defend the babes in Christ. Be not children in understanding but arise and be mature in Christ! Learn my voice so you may also discern his.

Lost are the skills to sit in awe and reverence of me, your God. Declare your love and faith by setting aside some time each day to speak and also to HEAR me. Say what you will, but be more willing to hear than to speak. I already know all your needs, all your heart, all your desires- do you know mine? Ask of me, “What shall I pray for Father, or who shall I call, or who shall we help today?” Be focused on me and my will and you shall be blessed with your every need supplied. You are doing it wrong, my children. Make a change. Obey and hear today.

Today’s Written Word

Acts 6:4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer (speaking earnestly, communicating to God) and to the ministry of the word.

Ephesians 6:18 AMP With all prayer and petition pray [with specific requests] at all times [on every occasion and in every season] in the Spirit, and with this in view, stay alert with all perseverance and petition [interceding in prayer] for all God’s people.

Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication (deēsis = seeking, asking, entreating because of need and want, ie: asking with an expectation of an answer) with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Micah 1:2 Hear, all you peoples! Listen, O earth, and all that is in it!
Let the Lord GOD be a witness against you, The Lord from His holy temple.

I Corinthians 14:21 In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.

Hebrews 3:15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.

Ephesians 4:20.21 But ye have not so learned Christ;

If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

A Word of Encouragement

God is encouraging us to HEAR Him. Yes, we are to come to Him in prayer continually and often, and then He wants us to sit still and quiet our minds and listen to Him. With all He knows and all the wisdom He can impart, it does seem wise to listen more than we speak. He is God Almighty, and He is always good and always for us and our success. He reminds us that developing a rich and well connected prayer life with Him and His Son is for our own benefit.

An Action Item

After reading some scriptural records about prayer, it is clear that the standard in both the old testament and the new is that God’s people prayed often and for several hours each day. If you’ve ever had a “conversation” with an agitated complainer, or an upset child, you probably didn’t get much opportunity to speak. At least not until they calmed down and waited for your response. Let’s talk to our Father God and also our Lord Christ by thanking them for their help and then let’s LISTEN for their answers of help, wisdom, encouragement and direction. It is for our good 🙂

Victories and Blessings

We are sharing HOW TO HEAR in the spirit on a greater scale now. Here are the basics to develop two way communication with God:

  1. Repent and turn to God by accepting Christ as your Lord.
  2. Live holy and sanctified. God will not dwell in sin. Obey His written and spoken word and live the Word you know.
  3. Get peaceful and quiet and sit still and wait to hear God. Clear you own thoughts and have a pen and paper ready to record what God or Christ speaks to you by holy spirit within you.
  4. This is a skill and requires some time and dedication, don’t quit, but believe what God has promised. It is available!

These are the basics, but there are more helpful details in the book.
