Today’s Living Word – Up and Out to A Wilderness Adventure!

4–6 minutes

God speaks prophecy about fasting:

Fasting is a time apart – it is my time to amplify my word to you. It is a time for me to shout a word and get my faithful loose from the bondage they are under. You are leaving behind the old ways, old habits and old lies that had you bound. Yes, the Red Sea has parted and those who will leave the old behind are on the move and walking through. Go up now, my faithful remnant. Press into the wilderness and the wild new life I am bringing to you. It may feel strange and uncomfortable, like you have moved out of your current home and are making your way through the wilderness and camping among the unknown. Be excited about this great adventure and be my pioneers in the new world I am leading you into. All is new – all will be of me – or it will not be.

This is a time of laying down all that is not of me. All ego and self-righteousness must go. All self-sufficiency and personal pride will vaporize under my mighty power and glory. The echoes of my voice will rumble across the heavens and all will hear and know the great and mighty God has visited them. A time of awakening has come and settled upon the meek and holy, those who will be in Christ and not of themselves, those who really desire to please me and serve my Son. I am a rewarder of them who “diligently seek me”. You are about to be delighted, my children. Yes, a bit horrified for a short time, but then delighted. Continue with me, my remnant, just keep walking forward and moving up and out.

About the fasting, yes, I have been encouraging you all to take a break from the things that tempt you. Food, yes, and also other means of comfort and escape like drugs, alcohol and bad things on screens. Do yourselves a favor and spend the time you usually spend doing those things, with me instead. I am more helpful and fun anyway. What do you get from the movies or the drive throughs, health and happiness or foul language and foul foods? Do not starve yourselves to prove your love for me. But eat your fill of my word instead. Do a fast from bad foods and chemically filled ones and those sugary treats that put you to sleep. Ask me what to sacrifice and I will help you reset your focus on things above, in love.

Today’s Written Word

Exodus 14:21-23 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.

And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.

And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.

Exodus 14:29 But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.

Exodus 15:3,4 The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name. Pharaoh’s chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea.

Exodus 15:22a So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went (up and) out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness,

Daniel 9:3 And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:

Matthew 17:21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

Acts 10:30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

A Word of Encouragement

God is calling us away from the old and into the new, wild and uncomfortable. He is asking us to leave the comforts and old habits that we have clung to for escape like bad food, bad TV, and bad habits of substances that harm us. Perhaps we have chosen those bad habits out of satisfying our flesh, or perhaps out of boredom. Today is the day to arise and sanctify ourselves by fasting from the unhealthy, and dedicating more time and focus upon our mighty God.

An Action Item

Thinking about the children of Israel who marched out of Egypt, and the few comforts they had as they traveled into the wilderness. Pharaoh gave permission to go and worship, so they did not take the kitchen sink and furniture, it was to be a short trip. They also borrowed (demanded or required and received) jewels of silver and gold from all the Egyptians, and left with great wealth. The walk out into the wilderness and then into the Red Sea took courage and trust in God’s willingness to lead them by Moses, to protect them when Pharaoh chased them, and to deliver them into the promised land. All started by Moses hearing God and choosing to obey.
