Today’s Living Word – The Competition

5–7 minutes

Jesus Christ speaks to the athletes and to the loungers:

What does the coach do at the Olympics when his star swimmer or runner is down with the flu? He will change up the roster and call up the next best competitor. The race goes on regardless of the condition of each athlete. There are many heats and several days of competition to win both individual and team medals. At the end, when every race has finished and the great final parade of athletes happens, all celebrate the athletes as they wear their awarded medals. At the last Olympic competition the most medals were awarded to the USA even though this country’s government does not sponsor or financially promote their athletes. They strive and struggle and collect support from other citizens who care for them. And yet they are very successful.

The spiritual competition is similar in the winning of each personal battle, and each saint running the race they are called to. Some of you are on an international stage because you have dedicated all of your heart, soul, mind and strength to serving our Father and He has promoted you. Some are yet in a small circle of influence and some others still are not yet on their mark or even in the race yet. You have all been called to compete and to clean up your spiritual and physical diets in order to be fit and swift. You are required to be well exercised in spiritual knowledge and abilities, so you may step up and compete and win day by day.

Look around and count those you know and love who are suffering from sickness and mental illness. How many do you know? How many of them are in our family and on our spiritual team? Too many. Make a list of all who need healing and help and begin to speak life over each of them. Pray, yes, but also claim the complete and total deliverance from all darkness, all illness, all oppression and depression. Speak it out loud in my name above all names and titles. Slam the door shut on the evil that has overcome them and awaken all to the spiritual battle that rages on for the lives and souls of mankind! There is a spiritual flu called lethargy and discouragement that has infected the will and hearts of our family. Speak healing for them with proclamations of victories you have heard of me. Seek to engage in every battle to win health and joy for our family. Now is the hour. The great final lap of the race is here, and the trumpets are sounding the call for all to suit up and compete to win. Claim your garland and your medal of honor today.

Today’s Written Word

Psalm 19:5 NLT It bursts forth like a radiant bridegroom after his wedding. It rejoices like a great athlete eager to run the race.

I Corinthians 9:22,23 NLT When I am with those who are weak, I share their weakness, for I want to bring the weak to Christ. Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some.

I do everything to spread the Good News and share in its blessings.

1Co 9:24 AMP Do you not know that in a race all the runners run [their very best to win], but only one receives the prize? Run [your race] in such a way that you may seize the prize and make it yours!

Unchecked Copy Box 1Co 9:25,26 NLT All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize.

So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.

Galatians 2:2 KJV And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain.

Galatians 5:7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth? (the devils are always the ones who try to hinder the faithful in the competition)

Philippians 2:16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside ( cast off) every weight (burden, mass or encumbrance), and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

A Word of Encouragement

The USA’s government does not financially support their Olympians, and yet they compete successfully. If you have felt unsupported by a church, or those around you who you expected to be kind and encouraging, you are not alone. As ministers of the Lord Jesus Christ we stand against the ways of the world. We speak light into the darkness and we represent the love and deliverance our Lord and savior has for ALL MANKIND. Every hurt can be healed. Every blindness can be lifted, every influence of evil demons rebuked and cast out. We are spiritual athletes who have great spiritual power and ability, and the authority to use it. It is high time we suit up and begin to train as though we are headed for an Olympic challenge. Let’s do it today!

An Action Item

We are challenged to jump into the spiritual competition and make of list of those we know that are sick and afflicted. We are to speak healing and deliverance over them by praying and declaring what God’s will is for their lives in Jesus Christ’s name. It is a great blessing to minister directly to anyone. By the stripes of Jesus Christ, we are made whole physically, spiritually, and mentally. Only good can come from speaking light, life and deliverance. Pray what God’s word says AS HE LEADS us and we can expect miracles every day.
