Today’s Living Word – An Invitation

4–6 minutes

God speaks prophecy to His family:

To invite others into your family is a process, like when you are developing a relationship in dating. It requires a connection and process of gradually revealing yourself to another person. When you are very close to the one you love, you introduce them to the family you were born into. Sometimes that’s a source of joy and rejoicing, sometimes embarrassment and avoidance. Those who are in my eternal family are the same. They come to me initially to “check things out,” or to test the waters and see if they want to become part of our family. Most are seeking a place of belonging. Some are seeking answers and understanding. All are welcome.

My church has made the mistake of seeking out the pretty people- the ones who are desired by culture and society, as though it is a popularity contest to gather the best into our family. I seek the humble, those who will bow the knee to my Son and make him Lord, not the arrogant and haughty. He came to rescue those who were rejected by society, the downtrodden and lost, the lepers and those who satan had overcome. He went to places others avoided, and healed those who were deemed untouchable by society. Look to those in need my children, those who are meek and humble.

Seek to build my spiritual family by love and invitation one by one. Reach out in kindness and prayer as you do now, but also to defend and rescue those who are held captive by evil against their will. Strengthen yourselves in my Word and develop your ability to release my power with confidence and ease at a moment’s notice. Be a sermon to see and a tower of my strength and power. Command the devils to flee the flesh of the suffering. Command the sick to be healed, and the minds of the distressed to be at peace. You are my Christ-ins, my beloved, and you are each walking, breathing invitations to our eternal family. Live in love and power each day and be ambassadors for your Christ so all may come and gather for eternity.

Today’s Written Word

Humble, tapeinoō = G5013:  humbleabase , humble (one’s) selfbring low.

James 4:10 Humble yourselves  in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

II Corinthians 12:21 And lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and that I shall bewail many which have sinned already, and have not repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed.

Untouchable: compound of me 673 = not, cannot, forbid, and sympatheō G4834 = to be sympathetic or to have compassion.

Hebrews 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. ( Christ is sympathetic, and is compassionate).

I Peter 4:11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

I John 4:9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

A Word of Encouragement

Sermons We See by Edgar Guest
I’d rather see a sermon than hear one any day;
I’d rather one should walk with me than merely tell the way.
The eye’s a better pupil and more willing than the ear,
Fine counsel is confusing, but example’s always clear;
And the best of all the preachers are the men who live their creeds,
For to see good put in action is what everybody needs. I soon can learn to do it if you’ll let me see it done;
I can watch your hands in action, but your tongue too fast may run.
And the lecture you deliver may be very wise and true,
But I’d rather get my lessons by observing what you do;
For I might misunderstand you and the high advice you give,
But there’s no misunderstanding how you act and how you live. When I see a deed of kindness, I am eager to be kind.
When a weaker brother stumbles and a strong man stays behind
Just to see if he can help him, then the wish grows strong in me
To become as big and thoughtful as I know that friend to be.
And all travelers can witness that the best of guides today
Is not the one who tells them, but the one who shows the way. One good man teaches many, men believe what they behold;
One deed of kindness noticed is worth forty that are told.
Who stands with men of honor learns to hold his honor dear,
For right living speaks a language which to every one is clear.
Though an able speaker charms me with his eloquence, I say,
I’d rather see a sermon than to hear one, any day.
