Today’s Living Word – God of Forgiveness

4–6 minutes

God speaks prophecy to all who need forgiveness:

Finding forgiveness is elusive to many and a stumbling block for some. All people are prone to missteps and many of my children have caused harm, hurt and division due to innocent mistakes and lack of maturity. Many offences were unintentional and most have gone without confrontation or awareness from those who were hurt. This practice is not helping my family heal. As my children learn and develop themselves in their walk in Christ, they become more aware of how to live love and be a blessing to each other. It is always difficult to ask for forgiveness because none like being in the wrong, but if you were the offender, ask. Forgiveness demanded will not satisfy, but that offered and accepted in love is cherished.  Be givers my beloved.

When you come to my throne of grace, and humble yourselves for missing the mark or not walking in my will, I always forgive. It is a joy to see my children repent and learn to turn from error to truth. When a brother or sister in the family offends, it is not so clear cut. Sometimes one will offend another without being aware, and sometimes the offense is made out of callousness, but rarely do my children seek to cause harm. My will is love, respect and harmony in my family. I encourage clear and plain conversations, but even the mature are prone to misspeak.  Slow down my beloved and take the time to look around you. Are the faces you see smiling?

Walk in love, my precious children. Be slow to speak and quick to hear. Let others share their hearts and learn and grow together in harmony. Be ready to forgive, and be honest to ask forgiveness when you have erred. Do all to keep the evil one’s attempts to cause division at bay. I have warned you to strive to keep the unity and I have instructed you how to accomplish it. Be strong in my spirit and well connected to me and my Son. We will lead you in the way of peace and restore all. Mend all of your relationships and stand against strife and offense. Cast out the scorner, and do not sit idle when attacks come, but reprove, rebuke, and exhort unto a more worthy endeavor. You are my family and my eternal children. Love them that hate you and forgive all, for this is my will and the way of salvation.

Today’s Written Word

Forgive, charizomai  = G5483: give, freely give, grant, forgive, restore, be agreeable to, pardon, show one’s self gracious, kind, benevolent . . .

II Corinthians 2:7

So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.

II Corinthians 2:10 To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ;

I John 1:5, 9 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Ephesians 4:1-3

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering,  forbearing one another in love;

Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

James 1:19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow  to speak, slow to wrath:

A Word of Encouragement

We celebrate the members in particular in God’s family. Many of us gather in groups from different families, backgrounds and cultures. All have unique personalities, giftings and ways of communicating. It is truly by walking in God’s love and grace that we serve in harmony with Him and each other. Occasionally there will be a challenge due to one or more of our differences, usually in how we prefer to accomplish God’s word. Ephesians 4 says we are to keep the unity of the spirit in lowliness, meekness, longsuffering, and forbearing on another in love. We can do that!

An Action Item

God said to be givers. We can give another our seat, let another talk first or for the whole conversation while we listen, or perhaps give a fellow believer our time in prayer for them. This message in particular is about forgiveness. When we stumble, it is always best to ask for forgiveness as quickly as we know we have offended. If someone has hurt or offended us, we can choose to forgive them and forget the incident. Or we can speak the word in love and let them know our relationship needs restoration or an apology. It is always better to seek restoration now, and not need to clear things up after we are gathered together. We are the eternal family. 🙂
