Today’s Living Word – Covenant

4–6 minutes

God speaks prophecy of His covenant:

What is a blood covenant? Have you studied and do you know? Promises made with a handshake should be honored and kept faithfully, but those sealed in blood are unbreakable. There is a difference also between a symbolic prick of blood and the flowing out of all blood in the sacrificial lamb’s body. There is a reason I told my children not to eat of things strangled. You can look it up. Be aware of my blood covenant and do some reading on what it means in the Old Testament and the New.

I am teaching to prepare you, my beloved, for the blood is about to flow. No, you are not going to die, but the blood of my Son will flow across the earth to cleanse it from all unrighteousness. That is why I instructed my children to sacrifice bulls and goats upon the altars under the old covenant. It was to take away their sins for a season. Now, you have been washed in the blood of my Son. He shed his life’s blood and became my perfect, spotless, sinless sacrifice for all mankind. For each and every one of you he suffered, died and made full payment for the sins you have committed.

Now is the time to rejoice in your freedom in my resurrected Christ. He is your risen, living savior who leads you in purity and deliverance every day. He has replaced the old blood covenant with one of grace. By grace you were called. By grace you were cleansed. By grace you have eternal holy spirit life within. Your physical life is in your blood, but your spirit is of the heavenlies. Come and see in the spiritual realm. Awaken to righteousness and live and move and have your being in me, for the new covenant is life and freedom from the letter of the law. The old has vanished away, and all is new. Live not under the old decaying ways, but ascend into the new and lively. Receive ye my grace, love, and full payment for all sin. In my Christ, ye are free.

Today’s Written Word

Covenant, diathēkē = G1242: testament, covenant, a contract, disposition, or arrangement

Genesis 9:12,13 And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:

I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.

Matthew 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, G1242 (covenant) which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Luke 22:20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament G1242 in my blood, which is shed for you.

Acts 21:25 As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled (anything deprived of life’s breath without the shedding of blood), and from fornication.

Hebrews 12:24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenantand to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

Hebrews 13:20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

Revelation 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Luke 11:15 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

A Word of Encouragement

In the Old Testament, God made blood covenants available to represent mans participating in a sacred offering to God. The blood was poured out upon the alter to cleanse, and sanctify for their sin in breaking the written laws. In the giving of life’s blood from a spotless lamb, or animal, the people of the old testament kept their part of the covenant with God. God’s part was to pardon or give spiritual cleansing in recognition of the blood offering. The shed blood represented protection from the consequences of sins and freedom from the bondage of being unclean or guilty.

An Action Item

In the New Testament God reminds us that we are only cleansed by blood. Hebrews 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. God’s Son paid for our sins with the offering of his own life’s blood. One time and for all time. I Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

Let’s praise God for cleansing us from all unrighteousness in Christ!
