God reassures Believers, and confronts Unbelievers:

Do not fear the shaking and quaking, nor the violence of fire and wind, as they are not for my believers, but for the wicked and the sleeping unbelievers, who will continue in their godless ways until shaken awake. For many, it takes calamity to turn their eyes to me. As I did with Job, I allowed the adversary to strike but limited him from taking Job’s life. Satan desired his life, as he desired to take out Peter and many thousands of other heroes of the faith. I am a just and righteous God. As people transgress the laws of life that I placed in their hearts, consequences must come. Some blame me for the harm they bring on themselves, others blame me for the harm and death their family members and people suffer.

I make a way for peace, safety and blessings with protection but few find it and stay on it. I place my laws in the hearts of men; I write them on the fleshy tablets. I extend love and salvation to all. I sent my Son, Jesus Christ, to teach and demonstrate my love and power and to be the full and final sacrifice for sin and all suffering. I had my holy men speak my words of life and record them in writings for all to read and follow for blessings and wholeness. In what way could I have made it easier or more available for mankind to accept and receive? Do not blaspheme me, o men of small minds, for not rescuing you from your own foolish and sinful ways.

Turn to your idols of silver and gold. Ask them for peace and safety and salvation from aging bodies. Go ahead, go your blind way, see how far you get and with what joy you arrive in the grave of your own making. No! O man, no! Do not go that way! How could I call out to you any louder? Are the tempests not violent enough to get your attention? Are you waiting for the greatest earthquake, or deepest flood, or for famine, or war on your own land?

I offer my hand every day. Take it, take hold of the everlasting salvation I hold out to you every day. What fear stops you? Turn to me o man and be saved, says the Lord God of life and creation, and I will save you.

Today’s Written Word

Consequences of law breaking is for unbelievers:

1 Tim 1:8-10 RSV Now we know that the law is good, if any one uses it lawfully, understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, immoral persons, sodomites, kidnapers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, in accordance with the glorious gospel of the blessed God with which I have been entrusted.

Conscience of God’s law is in our hearts:

Hebrews 8:10-12 ASV For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, And on their heart also will I write them: And I will be to them a God, And they shall be to me a people: And they shall not teach every man his fellow-citizen, And every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest of them. For I will be merciful to their iniquities, and heir sins will I remember no more.

Repentance leads to mercy: Isaiah 55:7 Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

1 Timothy 2:3-6 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

A Word of Encouragement

God our Father calls out in direct and stern words to the ungodly and spiritually asleep people to rouse their attention and awaken them to Him so they will turn from their unholy ways to salvation in Jesus Christ. Events of calamity have been happening in many places around the world during most of the past year. God is allowing these events and many people are becoming aware of their need for God. Yet, there are still a great many people who refuse to know God and continue to commit evil deeds. For those who have turned to God and believe to live in righteousness, He extends His hand to us for peace, safety and blessings with protection.

An Action Item

While we are aware of violent things happening in our world today, we do not need to dwell on them for God says they are not for us, but are for the ungodly ones. Let’s keep our eyes looking to God for peace and safety, and trust that He will provide. Let’s also take every opportunity to speak of God’s love and salvation to everlasting life with Him by way of the Lord Jesus Christ to help people turn from godless ways to God-blessed days.
