Today’s Living Word- Follow Christ

4–6 minutes

God speaks prophecy to all:

Have you tried to pursue God like a young man follows after a woman he desires, or as a woman seeking the exact, right gown for her wedding? Knowing me is not a “quick fix”, but a relationship well worth developing. Have you noticed that some people you are initially drawn to are exciting at first, and then oftentimes they disappoint and you feel you should move on? But others are easy to begin with and not so challenging, then as you grow together, they become fuller and richer, and you care more and more for that person. I am that kind of God.

I come to you gently and invite you to our family. There is no compulsion to accept, only blessing and forgiveness and inclusion when you do. You are called to let my Son love you. To let him into your heart, and to let him lead you to me. IF, you will put aside your own will, and IF you make him Lord, you will know me, for he is sent by me to instruct you. He is the ruler and King of my Kingdom, and he appoints those who will obey the King to rule and reign on my behalf. To know Christ is to know me, for I am his God and your God.

Do you know how to become an expert Christian? Follow the Christ. Not only did he obey my voice as he walked upon the earth, but we have had over 2000 years together. All day, every day, we walk and talk and share our hearts. No greater love has any man known. Come to him so you may come to know me.

“I surrender all”, do you know the song? Some will come to Jesus and out of a truly repentant heart, they will immediately surrender all, but that is a rare response. Most will be won over time and trials. Those who are more able to care for themselves are less likely to seek his leading and care, nor mine. Some choose to fit in with family and community and just happen to get saved by my grace and mercy. But a few come in true humility and surrender all they are, and all they have, to follow where Christ will lead. Commit to him today, totally surrender to his leading with a meekness to obey all he directs, and you will learn of the deep things of my spirit. He will draw you to me and we will grow closer day by day. This is my heart to each of you: to abide in Christ and in my heart for I love you my precious children.

Today’s Written Word

Psalm 42:1,2 As a hart (deer) longs for flowing streams, so longs my soul for thee, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and behold the face of God?

Phil 2:9-11 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Confess, exomologeō, Strong’s G1843; to profess- to acknowledge openly and joyfully

Romans 5:17 For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.

Revelation 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

2 John 1:9 Anyone who runs on ahead and does not remain in the doctrine of Christ, does not have God; but the one who continues to remain in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son.

A Word of Encouragement

God tells us of His desire that we pursue relationship with Him and that we can come to Him by way of His Son Jesus Christ. The invitation to God’s family is gentle and without compulsion. 1 Timothy 2:5 tells us there is “one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus”. God calls out for us to let His Son love us and lead us to God. When we humble ourselves and surrender to Christ’s leading, he includes us in God’s family where we receive the blessings and forgiveness of a child of God. Christian believers are also given power and authority to rule and reign in life on Jesus Christ’s behalf!

An Action Item

It is a very good thing for us to surrender our own will to follow the will of God in Christ. God draws our attention to the hymm, “I Surrender All” which is a beautiful and peaceful song for personal reflection and commitment to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. The Lord Christ always remains perfectly aligned with God. Let’s choose to line up under Christ and obey all he directs. God says today that we will learn of the deep things of His spirit when we obey our Lord Jesus Christ.
