Today’s Living Word – Stay Close to God

3–5 minutes

The Lord Jesus Christ speaks to his body of believers:

Wonderful Counselor is our God, the Everlasting God of all creation. Father God loves us, He cares for all our cares, and provides so much love and blessing to us. Oh come, let us praise His name together. I am his Son. Father is the Living God, the Existing One. We have life and existence and function and meaning only because of Father’s love and grace and mercy toward His creation. God has so, so very much yet planned and in store for us His living beings, His children, to experience, discover, and receive as He reveals.

Though we have strength and free will, it would be extremely foolish for anyone to go out, on their own way, against God. He truly is the Potter, and we are the vessels of His design and making. No one created himself. No one gave himself life. We owe life to the Maker. So absurd is it for anyone to turn away from the source of life and risk nonexistence.

God our Father is very merciful, but He will not strive with rebellion forever. He will not wink at man’s ways for all time. God has been patient with wayward man for many thousands of years. Yet, he has promised an Eternal Kingdom wherein only righteousness will dwell. That day must come. There will be times of great change, and of great chastisement of all evil and rebellion. All the unrighteousness, of all who choose unrighteousness, must be judged and removed before that final Paradise of Peace will reign. Stay close to God!

Today’s Written Word

Psalm 149:1-4 ASV Praise ye Jehovah. Sing unto Jehovah a new song, And his praise in the assembly of the saints. Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: Let the children of Zion be joyful in their King. Let them praise his name in the dance: Let them sing praises unto him with timbrel and harp. For Jehovah taketh pleasure in his people: He will beautify the meek with salvation.

Isaiah 64:8 ASV But now, O Jehovah, thou art our Father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

Romans 9:20,21 ASV Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use? What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction,

Deuteronomy 11:2 And know ye this day: for I speak not with your children which have not known, and which have not seen the chastisement of the LORD your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his stretched out arm,

Chastisement, Mûsār, Strong’s H4148; discipline, chastening, correction

A Word of Encouragement

God, the Father of all those born again of His spirit, is such a magnificent, loving and wonderful God who extends grace and mercy to all His creation. God is the master craftsman of life. We are certainly wise to draw close and stay close to Him. Christ Jesus tells us today that God has an exciting future planned for us. It will be fabulous!

An Action Item

Staying in close fellowship with God our Father and with our Lord Jesus Christ is more important than ever in these times of great conflict between good and evil on so many fronts. We have been told that big changes are coming but we are to remain confident in God and take a stand against fear. The results of change will be celebrated when great peace, joy and freedom are experienced by the faithful followers Jesus Christ. Change is at the door; let’s walk through it together.
