Our Lord Jesus Christ speaks to God’s children:
Take a tour around your home my brethren. What do you see? Is it filled with things that bless and inspire your walk with me? What of your minds? Are your thoughts well arranged and in order according to my words, or are there some cobwebs and old stacks of unforgiveness or unspoken apologies that you meant to offer but kept in your heart instead? Your minds are very much like your houses. Find those areas where the old has piled up and clear it away with my help. Ask me to show you what is long since dead and buried for others and needs to be exposed and removed from you.
Let’s get busy preparing for my return, for my church is required to be without spot and without blemish. Ask of me, “Lord Christ, what must I do to be clean?”. I will lead you to my secret place, and reveal words and images that are not of me nor acceptable in the sight of God Almighty. Let yourselves enter into heaven with joy and a clean heart. Let go of all shame and hatred and be washed white as snow in my blood. You are holy – so hold not those thoughts of darkness. Forgive and be free of the past. Refuse accusations against yourselves and others. Stand for righteousness and speak love. Forgive all and be free.
Some housekeeping is easy. You see a thing you no longer want, and toss it out. But what of those things you have worked hard to earn, like position in a church or a title at work? Are you able to let them go when your assignment from me changes? And what of friendships that have been a daily fixture for 20 years? When those people rebel against me your Lord, will you let them go? And routines that are harmful to the cleanliness of your heart and mind – bad music, contaminated foods, evil-promoting movies, will you pluck them from your lives and make room for me and our Father to come in and make our abode with you? Yes, we need your time and space to reside within, for we bring what we have and who we are with us. We need space for our words of truth and light to fill you with living waters of health and for the fire of God to burn off the chaff. What kind of housekeeping do you do when you are moving? Do it now my brethren, for all our moving soon and your heavenly abode is already well furnished.

A Word of Encouragement
The apostle Paul wrote to the Ephesians in chapter 5 how Christ Jesus loved the church and gave himself for it so that one day he would receive a sanctified and cleansed, glorified church not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. In his prophecy, Christ reminds us he will be returning for a cleaned-up church body of believers and he exhorts us to examine our relationships for unforgiveness. The Lord Jesus also offers to help us remember things we have not cleared up so we can handle them and be free of weights and hinderances as we move into our bright and joyful futures.
An Action Item
While we don’t earn our way into heaven by being good or living clean, we are exhorted to clean up the “houses” of our lives so we’ll be ready to enter into heaven with joy and a clean heart and have room for important company – God our Father, and the Lord Jesus. Part of the cleanup needs to be getting rid of habits and practices the are offensive and clutter our spaces and distract us from living in a manner pleasing to our family. Let’s make some time soon to look through the spaces of your mind and living quarters (our personal manner of life) to tidy up, remove the spots and smooth out the wrinkles. Life moves forward more peacefully and effectively when we are not tethered to weights and rebelling in darkness. Let’s run to the light and truth, our Lord Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father God.
